WhatSake was created to make discovering Japanese sake easier, more social and more fun, whether you’re trying your first bottle or your five-hundredth.
We started with a simple frustration.
Sake can be wonderfully complex. The way it’s presented to people often makes it feel unnecessarily complicated too.
The problem
Walk into a restaurant or pick up a bottle and you’re immediately faced with unfamiliar names, classifications, regions and labels.
There’s an enormous amount to discover, but too often the first step feels more like homework than curiosity.
WhatSake is our answer.
We want to give people enough information to feel confident, without stripping away the joy of figuring out what they personally like.
Scan a bottle. Search for something new. Learn a little. Rate what you drink. Remember the good ones. See what other people are enjoying. Then keep exploring.
That’s really the whole idea.
